As an international bank, Standard Chartered has extensive reporting obligations, meeting the demands of its London and Hong Kong listings with several reports produced in multiple formats spanning over 1,600 pages, all published on the day of its results announcement.

The reporting suite includes the Annual Report, Strategic Report, Pillar 3 Report, Fair Pay Report, Modern Slavery Statement and the Bank Report as well as the Press release and the RNS statement – several of which are also produced in Chinese in close collaboration with a specialist international printing firm.

Elevating the brand

The suite’s design energises the new brand, confidently presenting the ‘super graphic’ on the covers and deploying the brand palette throughout the reports to emphasise key points and enhance navigation.

Stories with impact

Throughout the annual report key stories are highlighted with arresting imagery of the bank’s people, operations and customers, whether as section dividers or in support of the narrative.

Taking a stand

Progress against the bank’s four strategic priorities and three enablers are presented in a clear and accessible style, supported by its Stands – long-term ambitions to address climate change, stark inequality and the unfair aspects of globalisation.

Sustainable finance

Sustainability is embedded throughout the bank with the Stands informing its overall strategy, including its approach to sustainable finance. Reporting is rigorous, including a detailed net zero roadmap and analyses of ten key industries financed by the bank.

Weather picture

This year’s annual photography competition among all colleagues focused on weather and climate images. Organised by the UK’s Royal Meteorological Society, it aims to draw attention to the beauty of the planet and the importance of its conversation.

Clear governance

The Governance Report has also been enhanced, including clear presentation of the key areas of Board discussion and activities, an insightful interview with a INED and an informative summary of remuneration.

ESEF guidance and support

Back in 2022, Standard Chartered was one of the first UK listed companies to file its ESEF report. Co-ordinated by our team, the bank achieved this at the same time as its final results announcement, which the FRC described as setting “a high bar”. As ESEF reporting requirements and regulations evolve, we’ve continued to assist the bank with its filing, providing guidance throughout the planning process, conducting test filings, and maintaining close support during the live filing.
