M&S is recognised for innovation at PwC’s Building Public Trust Awards 2017

01 December 2017

M&S featured in PwC’s Building Public Trust Awards again this year. Our client’s reporting suite was highly commended for ‘Innovation’, a new category at the awards event on 28th September.

The reporting on M&S’ performance was described as transparent and accessible, with one judge praising M&S for “showing that it’s doing a much better job of finding out what people are thinking and then applying the results”.

In the second round of the awards, on 30th November, the report received two further accolades, winning the award for Corporate Governance reporting in the FTSE 350, and being highly commended for Executive Remuneration reporting in the FTSE 350.

The judges praised M&S’ reporting on corporate governance, noting that “you really feel that the board is behind this report”. They also commented on the clarity of the company’s executive remuneration reporting, stating that the report “communicates the company’s diverse range of performance targets in a very visual way.”

Well done to the combined team at M&S and Friend.

The awards assess reporting from every company in the FTSE 350 as well as private companies, the public sector and charities. We heard more about the awards and discovered why the winners were chosen at our ‘Inspirational reporting’ seminar on Thursday, 19th October, where PwC’s Mark O’Sullivan spoke about PwC’s Building Public Trust Awards and we discussed the big, emerging trends that are shaping annual, integrated and sustainability reporting.
